The legend of King Arthur is one of the greatest in history, known over the western world since the Dark Ages. And yet, there is scant proof of his existence. Many historians treat him solely as a mythical monarch. Yet there was a great leader who lived in England around the year 500 A.D., who inspired a body of story and song surpassed perhaps only by the Bible.

This was Arthur, who may have been a King, perhaps not. One can ask why does this one victor became immortalized throughout history rather than others who resisted invasion. Perhaps it is simply that Arthur's leadership and effective military strategy had brought a peace unique in those days, a peace that may have seemed like Paradise to the beleaguered British.

Thus begins the legend of King Arthur, told by storytellers and singers down through the ages.
